Shah Jahan Mosque

Not many people can guess correctly where I took this photograph.  Most seem to think it's South Asia somerhere.  In fact I took it in Woking Surrey.

This was the closest mosque to the office.  It also happens to be the Europe's first purpose-built mosque - outside of Muslim Spain.  Read its full history here.

I love it that this photo almost looks sepia toned - its all browns and beiges, and wonderful contrasts.

I have to admit that I couldn't resist cheating. I rarely use photoshop and this mosque has a green dome!

The photo was taken in winter (that's snow on the dome) and the colours were bland. The sepia effect helped a little.

Thank you for commenting on such an old post.
