Ally Pally View

I lived in London for more than fifteen years, but this was the heaviest accumulation of snow I've seen.  My trip has changed and I'm back in London over the weekend for some meetings during the week.  Colleagues, new to London, were asking me what to do on Saturday morning.  I offered shopping, but they preferred to join me on my 'photo walk'.

After a messy trip from France on Friday night, taking me more than ten hours, it was good to capture the fun side of snow.  I could not think of a better place.  The view from Alexandra Palace is great, and with the snow I knew it woud be a treat.  I explained to my friends that apart from the view, there isn't much to enjoy - and we were off.

It's been many years since I've been here.  My wife and I used to have picnics when the weather allowed, enjoying the fresh air and view.  Different events take place here, from farmers' markets to antique fairs.  Have a look at the 'What's On' section of their official website if you're interested.  It's also the location of the first regular public TV broadcast by (of course) the BBC, back in 1936.  The huge antenna is still in use.

The city of London is visible in the distance on the left and the West End on the right.  The photos below are of the many families enjoying the snow.  I really missed my wife and kids during this walk.  Yousef and Noor would have loved it!

The second one from the top is excellent! Very nice exposure and details. My wife has fond memories of the UK but I've never even been to ol' Blighty :(

Love it! I rem when I was there 10 years back it only snowed once in 3 years and that was like a soft layer that stayed for 2 days before the sunlight took it away :p
