Wait Wait Wait

I bought a smaller camera for those work trips when I head straight from the airport to a meeting.  I don't like the 'tourist' look that a big camera would convey.  I'm also very often visiting the same cities: Dubai, Doha, Paris, Sens, London, Muscat, Khobar and Jeddah.  During most trips, I only get an hour or so of photography time, which is mostly during bright daylight and outdoors; perfect conditions and very manageable with a small camera.  The Nikon is therefore now reserved for proper holidays, and for business trips to off-the-beaten-track locations.

Spending a lot of time at airports, I watch people and observe very diverse waiting habits.  There are, like everything in life, categories: those who just sit there (I don't get it!), others who sleep (I so get that!), parents chasing children, business travellers working (or mostly pretending), friends chatting, anxious people, frustrated, angry, happy, relaxing, confused... you get the picture (not intended).

With a smaller, less obvious and less intrusive camera, I have more courage to shoot people.  In fact, if I tilt the screen a little, I can appear as though I'm checking settings or viewing saved photos.  I know it's cheating, but it works so well.  It allows me to get very close to the subject and in the same time achieve a very natural shot.  It's been an interesting experiment for me over the past few weeks.  Here are some more images taken in a few airports over May, June and July.
